Don’t you just loooove Jen Corace’s drawings she does for Craftland?! (see new flyer on left) Jen is one of the masterminds behind Craftland, a 9-yrs in the running craft show that runs for the month of December, hand picking crafts from all over the nation and setting up shop for the holiday season.
Earlier this year, Craftland set up a permanent store at their Downcity Providence location that offers gallery shows, craft classes as well as a small shop. While they are now operating as a full-year shindig, they are still clearing out the space for the month of December and filling it with all new goodies for that month-long winter magic I call Craftland.
I was lucky this year to have a few pieces in the show. You can find my Providence longitude/latitude pins, bingo ball bracelets and hammered copper earrings. And let me just say, it is an honor to be a part of such an amazing tradition. I’m proud to call myself a Craftland artist. But, seriously, check out their show, their site, their store and their school. I heart Craftland. www.craftlandshow.com

This Saturday (as in tomorrow!) Ted James is DJ’ing the annual Rhode Island School of Design Alumni Sale, held at the RI Convention Center in Providence, RI from 10am-5pm. That’s 7 HOURS OF MUSIC!?! He is diligently holed up in his man room as I write this, “pulling records” or plucking from his Itunes library to fill a marathon-length playlist of awesomeness. This is the third year in a row Ted James has played the show, so stop by and show your love, not to mention pick up some amazing goods from RISD alum. See what the most expensive art school in the nation can churn out. Ooo, and stop by our friend Joe S’s booth for all over printed skinny jeans, t’s & more. He’ll also be joining Julie Miller and I for Sunday’s Mass Market 5 at MassArt.

Paper Eagles during a photoshoot at the Nest '09.
The Nest has recently moved to private studios, where the Paper Eagles, the Danger Danger Birds, Risque Bouquet, Abby Saunders, Julie Miller and all other affiliated artists will continue to collaborate and create work. The Nest’s Etsy store is in the making, and plan on seeing our work featured at Craftland in Providence this winter and various other local craft shows. There will be no more classes this season, but stay tuned for future locations and schedules from Nest teachers. Thanks to all who attended classes and made work in the space!
Cheers!

We rocked the Providence Art Fest on Westminster Street and the Mass Market at Mass Art earlier this month. In a ridiculous, whirlwind weekend, we did two shows in two states, learned a lot, and had a lot of fun. And then, took a really long, well deserved nap.
Now, we’re ready to get back in the studio and start working towards our next craft show. Check us out mid-July at the Indie Arts Fest Arts Exchange on July 18th in Burnside Park in Kennedy Plaza (Downtown Providence, RI). Come for the crafts, stay for the facial hair contest, live dance performance and bands. Speaking of…the Danger Danger Birds and Paper Eagles will be performing at Indie Arts fest, as well. I’ll keep you updated. Thanks to everyone who came out the the shows on June 13th & 14th. We’ll never forget the support for our first weekend. But we’ve got mustaches to make and bingo balls to glue. Cheers!

We did it! eek. All our hours of ridiculous rehearsals, false eyelashes, sequins, ruffles, freezing butts off in a sequined bikinis, performing sketch comedy routines at clubs, live action scenes at swanky parties, shimmying and hamming it up has NOT gone unnoticed. At the Motif Music Awards on Monday, May , we won Best Live Act, and..uh, we’re not really a band, but we’ll take it! Check us out at the Motif Music Awards held at The High Hat in Providence. Thanks to all the Birdies, and to everyone who voted for the razzle dazzle. xoxo
